Message from Headteacher Mr Jed Whelan
Sir Frederic Osborn School is a county maintained Secondary School for students aged 11 to 18 years. We offer a wide and varied curriculum which is specifically planned to enable our students to achieve their best academic qualifications.
Our motto is 'Achieving Success Together' and we take pride in doing everything possible to ensure that our students achieve their full potential, in a safe and caring environment. We have invested in the best available resources and facilities to support our students' learning and achievement.
We are a school that sees every student as an individual and plan an individual learning pathway from the moment we know that you will be part of the Sir Frederic Osborn Learning Community. We truly believe that education and learning is a partnership between school and parents/carers.
Please take a look around our website and see what is happening at Sir Frederic Osborn School.
GCSE results Thursday 20 August 2015
We are delighted to announce the School has achieved 49% for 5+A*-C including English and Maths, the School’s highest result on this performance measure, since it was introduced by the government back in 2002. This represents an increase of 25%, up 10 percentage points, on last year’s GCSE results.
The results affirm the improvements and progress at the school over the past year, which were validated this July by Ofsted, when they commented that: “The headteacher, senior leaders and the governors are bringing about rapid improvements in students’ progress and in the quality of teaching.”
The inspectors also graded Behaviour and Leadership as Good during the July 2015 inspection!
These achievements and improvements are due to the hard work and efforts of students, staff and parents.
We are extremely proud of every student, for their efforts and the grades they have achieved across the whole ability range, especially those who worked hard enough to secure or even exceed their personal targets. We would however like to highlight the exceptional success of Joshua Aylott, Chloe Garoghan, Charley Holloway-Biddle, Tara Pooley-Green, Tosin Sowemimo and Matthew Westcott, who all achieved A* and A grades in seven or more of their subjects. A special mention for Charley who achieved six A* grades and five A grades, incredible!
We are confident that these students and the many other Year 11s who are staying with us to study at sixth form level, will in two years-time exceed the School’s best ever KS5 (A level) record which was set last week.
We wish all students success and happiness in the next stages of their careers whatever their future endeavours may be.
