Year 11 Study Skills
Excellent Parent Feedback

On Monday 1st February 2016 we welcomed Dr Martijn van der Spoel into school. All Year 11 students attended an effective study skills workshop during the day. In the evening, Martijn shared his insights and ideas with parents to help them support their child to implement effective revision strategies at home.
This event was highly recommended by parents from other schools and we were not disappointed.
Parent’s comments show this was a helpful initiative:
“The evening was not what I expected.  It was far more interesting and I liked the psychology aspect of it.  I felt very focussed.  The techniques such as highlighters etc were extremely useful. Excellent evening, it will help me to help my son”.
“I learnt various techniques that I would never have thought of to help my children revise.  I found the presentation extremely interesting and hope that my children take on board what they have learnt. Brilliant presentation”.
“Thank you so much. You gave me a lot to think about.”

“The evening made sense of how my daughter revises and why it works for her.  This would be useful in younger years also as a pointer as to how to build up revision notes as they progress”.
Thank you to all Year 11 Parents who attended and gave helpful feedback. We hope this helps focus your child’s revision. Further sessions are planned for other year groups and parents later in the year, responding directly to feedback from parents.
