A Message from Miss Vaughan

After achieving excellent A level results this year the new year 12 have started really well, they didn’t even want the weekend to come as they were enjoying their first week too much!  At this stage every student has experienced their first A level lessons of the year and seem to be enjoying it.  The atmosphere in the 6th form block is lovely, lots of work going on and a lively common room during lunch times.  Students are currently arranging their voluntary service around the school and in the wider community and are looking forward to getting started.  Year 13 have also made a good start, they have started the UCAS process already and are attending open days and will continue to research their university choices over the next month.  We are hopeful of even better results next year and are excited for the year to come.

Entry to our “Sixth Form” is dependent on students having achieved specific academic qualifications.  Some students may be accepted into the Sixth Form on a probationary basis.  The Welwyn Hatfield Consortium allows a wide range of subjects to be studied at Advanced Level in the Sixth Form, as well as A.V.C.E. courses.

Sixth Form life offers students a variety of educational and social experiences, which are frequently linked in a comprehensive complementary studies programme, culminating in a General Studies ‘A’ Level qualification. Details of all Sixth Form courses are published in a booklet, which is issued to all Year 11 students.
